Diastasis Rectus Abdominis: why your's isn't healing!

Writer's picture: Lynne DiPirroLynne DiPirro

I can actually FEEL the fear coming from moms when they talk about diastasis...

"I don't want to make it worse."

"I feel like mine is really bad!"

"Touching it makes me nauseous..."

"I've been working out for months, why hasn’t my diastasis improved?"

There are a lot of GREAT diastasis programs out there, but moms still struggle to feel confident that they have completely healed.

Why?! Diastasis healing is different for everyone!!

When I'm assessing abdominal control in women with healing DRAs, I check their ability to make the area within the separation FIRM! This is an important piece of proper healing!

Some women will struggle to do this in any position (ie. lying down, on hands and knees, and in a plank)

Other women will struggle on their backs but do INCREDIBLE in a plank!! As a provider, I don’t always understand why, but it’s true.

So, your diastasis might not be healing completely if you aren’t challenging it in the best positions for YOU!!

If you are only doing exercises on your back, you may need to switch to hands and knees, or a plank. Or maybe it's time to introduce rotational exercises!

Whatever it may be, there is an answer to healing your diastasis. We just have to find the right answer for YOU!

With my postpartum coaching program, I will provide you with a completely personalized program to work towards healing YOUR postpartum body!
